Defining the psychoanalytic 'listening' is extremely difficult. However, I consider 'listening' as the very core of psychoanalysis and what distinguishes psychoanalysis from any other approach. A couple of days ago the journal "Research on Social Work Practice" published my paper on the development of a (psychoanalytic) listening scale. This uni-dimensional scale only represents a "early" stage toward a definition of psychoanalytic listening. Likely, psychoanalytic listening encompasses more dimensions, not just one. When listening psychoanalytically (which by the way is for me the only listening) it is clear that the symptom is a 'compromise formation'. Far from being the problem, the symptom is instead an incredible resource. In some cases, we should even wish the symptom is not solved too soon.

In eroticism there is no mystery. There are no signs of any subjective division (e.g. questions, surprise, dream), as it is when the subject is overcome by the desire. In eroticism the object is clear, and it is already and always there, in foreground. Eroticism grounds on certainty!

Sustainability is the ability to "indefinitely" sustain (to hold, continue, keep up). On the one hand, sustain can e understood as "suffering" (th etymology seems to be similar). On the other hand, sustainability opposes any representation of the end; things do not terminate, life is not a circle where everything has a beginning and an end. In a time of consumerism when most things (i.e. goods and relationships) are imagined as short-term and replaceable, sustainability introduces a significant shift.

The writing of the experience is not the report of facts or thoughts. It is not a "report" at all. It is not a "recollection" of memories, statements, ideas, or beliefs. Freud: "my clinical cases read like novels". The "writing of the experience" means that something remains, something that is beyond the subject. Conversely, Lacan suggests that homosexuality is a consequence of paranoia; he then insists on the “homo” part of the term, meaning the relation with the similar person or the specular image.
